A fading facade plus new codes and standards meant this Surry Hills property was in need of remediation and refurbishment.
The residential building’s balconies were no longer structurally adequate and the height of the balustrade no longer complied with the codes and standards. There were also water penetration issues in the garage that needed addressing.
Demolition, fabrication and waterproofing
All balconies and balustrades needed to be demolished and removed. New balconies and balustrades were fabricated with the design allowing for residents to use their balconies as additional living areas. All balcony areas were retiled and waterproofed.
To deal with water penetration in the garage, we applied a negative membrane 1.5m high to the face of the garage area.
The final touches
To complete the project we painted all facades of the building to provide a new colour scheme.
The owners were very happy with our work and results. We were able to rectify the garage water penetration issues, provide a completely new colour scheme to all facades of the building, and rectify the structural and compliance issues of the balconies and balustrades.
